In the next few days, Congress will be recommending huge, year-end legislation that currently includes language damaging to nonprofits and the people they serve. Proposed language attached to a spending bill in the House would make it virtually impossible for the IRS to enforce the law (the longstanding Johnson Amendment) that protects charitable nonprofits from engaging in divisive partisanship and schemes to profit from tax deductions for political campaign contributions. The anti-Johnson Amendment language in the spending bill must not be included in any bill that gets voted on this month.
Call (202-224-3121) and deliver this simple message to your Representatives and Senators:
Partisanship has NO place in charitable organizations - whether churches, charities, or foundations. Oppose all efforts to include a controversial #JohnsonAmendment rider in any legislation being voted on this month.
