The administration has proposed new rules to ban private insurance coverage for abortion. Whether someone has private or government funded health insurance, each of us should have coverage for the full range of pregnancy-related care, including abortion. These proposed rules undermine the purpose of health insurance and are certain to cause confusion among consumers, who would have to navigate two separate bills and two separate payments.
Women deserve justice and dignity for abortion care, not obstacles and shaming. They should be able to make decisions about abortion with dignity and respect, and without politicians interfering – and a majority of Americans agree.
